Inour church I find that if we let them know that we can't have success without them that people are motivated to respond. We usually have a sign-up sheet in the back of the church and of course you have to remind them to sign up but we have a had a great response when we have let the church know what we need and how it will impact the city for the Lord.

My Wonderful Husband(Pastor Gartley) and I are praying for church membership. The growth of the church has not improved, we have been in this location for more than 6mos. please be in agreement with us and pray with us for abundance in membership. | My Dear Sister Loren, my husband just started Pastoring this new church in Feb. this year and many of the people who were members are beginning to come back. they were hurt by the last 2 Pastors. Also you need to aniont your door post of your church and ask the Lord to send in the people. Also now that school will be starting have a back to school bash. That is a cookout and give away school supplies serve hotdogs, chips etc..invest in your community and it will invest into you....If you cannot afford that on hallowen have a Halleujah Night to keep the kids from trick or treating. we play games and give out candy. | At our church, we have a "Celebration of Ministries" the first of February, on a Sunday night.
At this celebration we put together a DVD (about 5-7 minutes long) highlighting all the things that we accomplished the past year. At the same time, we ask that each ministry leader recognize someone in their particular area of ministry that went "above and beyond" during the past year.
We then select from this group a "Volunteer of the Year" and recognize that individual at this event. We purchase a very nice gift for them and honor them during this celebration evening.
It works great and is a wonderful event. Just a night of celebration for what all God has accomplished during the past year.
