Celebrating Christmas Through Connection
By Becky Hunter, December 21, 2007
There is no lack of communication this time of year and it’s great! As Christmas approaches we are connecting with people we rarely see, hardly ever hear from, and seldom write. Through cards, emails, phone calls, and even video chats I have been catching up on the lives and activities of those we have known from years past as well as those who live far away. Childhood friends, congregation members from churches where my husband served as a pastor during our earliest years of marriage, and people, we’ve met through a lifetime filled with opportunities to serve, are sending their updates. Ahhh, through the wonders of modern technology we all can tear through the barriers years and distance create and share what God is doing our lives and in the lives of those we love.
As special as all of these communiqués are, they pale in comparison to a kiss, a hug, or a handshake, these are icing on the cake of communication. You know what I mean, up close, LIVE and in person, that’s when the connection is all that it can possibly be. We know this to be true because our God, who had every means of communication available to connect with us, chose to connect LIVE and in person. God always chooses the best way. And in this case, His excellent choice gave us Jesus. Through the wonders of supernatural existence God tore through the bonds of time and space to be with us and those we love, LIVE and in Person.
Like you, I’ll be celebrating God’s Choice as I worship Him this Christmas Eve. Let’s love Him, share Him and connect with others in His name.
I’m praying for you this blessed holiday.
