Politely Ending a Conversation

By: Kathy Strandquist

Q: What is a polite way to cut someone off?QandA

A: I say, "Thank you very much for sharing with me. I will certainly consider your opinion when making a decision. I do appreciate your willingness to talk with me and have a wonderful day. Goodbye for now."

When someone comes to me with a criticism about another person in the congregation, I say to them, "Have you told this person your concerns? According to Matthew 18:15, you are to go directl to that person and share your concern with them. When you have done that, I'll be happy to talk with you again.
